Wisconsin License Renewal Requirements – 2020

REMINDER:  Wisconsin License Renewal Credentialing Requirements

*Please Note:  Due to the pandemic, usual and customary continuing education requirements are waived this biennium.   However, even if you did not complete your hours, you still need to renew your license.

A review of the usual requirements follow:

Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs):

  • Continuing Education: Forty (40) hours minimum of state board-approved courses; four (4) of the 40 in nutrition
  • Maintain Current CPR

Starting now and prior to December 14th, renew online: https://online.drl.wi.gov/UserLogin.aspx

Chiropractic Technicians (CTs):

  • Continuing Education: Six (6) hours minimum of state-board approved courses

Starting now and prior to December 14th, renew online:  https://dsps.wi.gov/Pages/Professions/ChiropracticTechnician/CE.aspx

Chiropractic Radiological Technicians (CRTs):

  • Continuing Education: Twelve (12) hours minimum of state-board approved courses

TIP:  Keep your transcripts and file them safely, in the event of a continuing education audit.

Wisconsin Chiropractic Board of Examiners Can’t Decide On What to Test Doctors On

Happy St. Patrick’s Day and another Wisconsin Chiropractic Board of Examiner’s meeting in Madison.

The WCEB is moving forward on their plans for a live patient, six-hour state practical exam to “improve the quality of chiropractors in the State” (or to limit the number of chiropractors in the State, depending on whom you talk to).

The Department of Regulation and Licensing (DRL) is still concerned that the exam will lack validity and that the financial aspects of administering such an exam have not been adequately confronted.  Since the exam must be “budget-neutral”, the State exam should run in the thousands of dollars for each applicant.

The public in attendance seemed frustrated, especially one DC who broke down as she has moved to Wisconsin but can’t take the board. There is still no exam scheduled for this year, but a promise that there will be one …

Just no promise on what it will be or when it will happen.
